We poor Apple users in the UK have had a long wait to enjoy the same level of downloadable goodies as our American friends, but the makers of pretty computers today announced that the movie download service is finally coming to the UK.

All the major movie studios, aside from Universal, have signed up to offer their films for download. Over 700 titles are available. New titles will cost £10.99 to download or £3.49 to rent. Library (aka Old) titles will set you back £6.99 to keep and £2.49 to rent. The rental period gives you 30 days to start watching a film and 48 hours to finish watching it once you've started. Films are available in hi-def for an extra pound.

The service is available from today.
