Clark Gregg might be best known right now as Agent Phil Coulson, who died at the hands of Loki in The Avengers only to be reborn ready to lead Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. on TV. But he’s also a writer and director, and has secured a release for his latest, Hollywood satire-meets-underdog tale Trust Me. The new trailer for the indie pic is online over at Apple.

Trust Me finds Gregg starring as Howard Holloway, a down-on-his luck agent for child actors. After discovering a 13-year-old acting prodigy (Saxon Sharbino), he is poised to close the deal of a lifetime which would catapult his tween client and, at long last, himself, into the big time.

But to do so, he’ll also have to deal with her volatile, overprotective father (Paul Sparks) and outwit all manner of Hollywood sharks including a sneaky producer (Felicity Huffman) and his slick nemesis, a rival agent (Sam Rockwell). Even as his luck appears to be changing, he realises that his new discovery might not be exactly what she seems…

Gregg has called upon friends and rounded up a quality cast that also includes William H. Macy, Molly Shannon, Amanda Peet and Allison Janney. While we’re not expecting quite the dark humour of his last directorial outing Choke, we’re confident he can deliver something fun.****

Trust Me hits VOD and iTunes in the US on May 6 before a run in American cinemas from June 6. We’re still waiting to learn when it might make it over here.
