Lately we've seen Mark Wahlberg exercising his comedy chops in The Other Guys and strapping on the heavyweight drama for The Fighter. But it's back to x-rated action for Contraband, the theatrical trailer for which has just arrived.

It's looking like promising crash-bang stuff, with a couple of good one-liners and a nice sense of escalation as some straightforward crook-ery spirals out of control into all-out warfare.

The story revolves around a former smuggler turned security guard, lured back to the wrong side of the law when he finds himself in tricky financial straits: a plan that goes south when violent drug dealers get involved and his family is threatened.

And if that sounds familiar, it's because Contraband is a remake of Reykjavik-Rotterdam, which won several Edda awards in its native Iceland, and was the country's submission in 2008 for the Best Foreign-Language Oscar, although it didn't end up bagging a nomination.

The director is Baltasar Kormákur, who played Wahlberg's role in the original, and as you'll have seen from the clip, Contraband stars Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Foster, Caleb Landry Jones, Lukas Haas, Diego Luna and JK Simmons alongside the leads. It's out in the UK on March 16 next year.
