You might think that getting ready to direct Woman In Black sequel Angel Of Death would consume all of a director’s attention. Not so Tom Harper, who is somehow finding time to squeeze in the filming of** War Book**, written by Skins man and The Fades creator Jack Thorne.

This one is also a sequel, and will continue the story of War Horse by ditching the horse and replacing him with a book. Yes, a young man finds a magical book that helps save many lives when Nazis attack a library. “I love you, War Book,” whispers Timmy Lansdale. There is a brief rustling of pages. War Book knows. Sorry, we’re now being informed that that’s completely wrong. War Book is actually a chilling chamber piece exploring the aftermath of an international nuclear attack, through a war game played out in the political backrooms of London.

“Ever since making my first short films, I've wanted to return to telling universal stories with a political edge,” says Harper in a statement. "Jack's script is beautiful and scary and Ivana MacKinnon and Sixteen Films are the perfect collaborators for it.”** War Book** reunites Harper with Thorne for the first time since they worked together on 2010’s excellent The Scouting Book For Boys.
