If you were expecting a return to Hawkins, Indiana before the end of 2018, put down the day-glo spandex and stash away the D&D – Season 3 of Stranger Things isn’t coming to Netflix until next year. The hit retro sci-fi series may have dropped its last set of episodes in late October last year – fittingly, with the season set over Halloween – but fans will have to wait longer than that for the next run.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, Netflix’s Cindy Holland teased a summer 2019 launch for Season 3 – and according to early word, it’s set in the summer of 1985 while the kids are off school. “It’s a handcrafted show,” Holland said, via EW. “The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait.”

The new season is currently in production, with new cast members including Cary Elwes and Jake Busey. An early teaser revealed that a fresh location will be the Starcourt Mall, and Back To The Future is expected to be major reference, just as Ghostbusters informed the 1984-set Stranger Things 2.
