Woody Allen has been threatening to leave his adopted filmmaking home of London for a while now. But though a planned excursion to Paris with the likes of Michelle Williams fell apart at the finance stage, he has now committed to shooting his next film in Spain.

The drama – which is either called Midnight In Barcelona or Untitled Woody Allen Summer 2007 Project depending on which source you read – will feature romantic intrigue and a cast of English speaking and international thesps.

He’ll get to work scribbling the script once he’s finished filming and editing this year’s Untitled Summer Project, in which he puts Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrell and newcomer Hayley Atwell through the emotional wringer.

Meanwhile, his next finished film, Scoop – starring Scarlett Johansson and Hugh Jackman – will hit UK screens shortly.
