There was much rejoicing and no little speculation when it was announced last week that Game Of Thrones star and all-round legend Peter Dinklage would be joining the cast of **X-Men: Days Of Future Past** **as a character only talked about as an antagonist. Now Bryan Singer, the man responsible for wrangling all the various elements of the film, has addressed some of the chatter about Dinklage’s possible role.

To be clear, he doesn’t actually say who Dinklage is playing, only putting to rest the idea he’s Puck during a chat with IGN and also denying that he’ll be some sort of computer-spawned digital concoction.

“He’s not going to be a CGI character,” Singer says. “He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game Of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy about the casting. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent on Thrones and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey.”

Now, of course, our minds will be spinning wondering who he's actually playing.

The director is, as you might expect, hard at work on pre-production for the film, but did mention that he’s negotiating with another actor and that some younger characters will be announced shortly. We already know that X-veterans James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Anna Paquin are among those returning for the film.

Shooting begins in a couple of months and** X-Men: Days Of Future Past** will be out on July 18, 2014.
