Yesterday, Simon Pegg hit the Twitters and began dropping hints about a new job, one that would see him “annexe another fantasy universe, a big one.” Well, shortly after he made that teasing announcement, he put forth the truth: he’ll voice bounty hunter Dengar in an upcoming episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon.

Yes, the man who has already left a mighty stamp on JJ Abrams rebooted Star Trek universe as Scotty is now laying claim to a small corner of George Lucas’ space opera.

“Dengar is one of the elite,” Pegg tells EW. “If you’re on Darth Vader’s bounty hunter speed dial, you are the best in the galaxy.” While he only crops up very briefly in The Empire Strikes Back, Dengar has gone on to become a cult favourite as one of the hunters summoned to the Executor by Darth Vader and charged with tracking down Han Solo.

While we all know that Boba Fett was the one who got the job done, now we’ll get to see a little more of Dengar’s activities before that scene ever took place. To see a video clip of the animated Dengar in action, head on over to EW’s site.

The episode airs this Friday across the pond on the Cartoon Network. Unfortunately, we’ve yet to find out when – or even whether – it’ll screen over here.
