You might be a recent graduate. You might have found a job already. You might be looking for one. You might have taken some time out to go travelling. But we hope very much that your post-graduation trajectory isn't similar to the protagonist of Simon Killer. You can possibly infer his ominous path from that title. If not, here's a trailer, just arrived courtesy of Eureka.

As you'll have just seen, Simon has a plan. Like the Cylons. Only not quite. Brady Corbet (Martha Marcy May Marlene) has the lead role as a recent graduate, full of promise and potential, who goes to Paris to begin a trip around Europe after a bad break-up with his long-time girlfriend.

Although he’s leaving behind a bad memory, he still can’t quite manage to shake off his feelings of loss. Living overseas and away from home for the first time, he’s trying to feel like an adventurer, but is more like a stranger in a strange land. And then he begins a fateful relationship a mysterious prostitute, played by Mati Diop (35 Shots Of Rum)...

Simon Killer is the second feature by the 29-year-old prodigy Antonio Campos (he completed his first, 2008's Afterschool, while still a student at NYU). He says film, for him, is "about putting things on the screen that you'd only talk about with your closest friends or your shrink." He lists Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Michael Haneke among his inspirations. You can see if you can spot their influence when the film is released in the UK on April 12.
