Bouncing back from turnaround limbo with a vengeance thanks to some new financing and Universal deciding to give it a second chance, Vince Vaughn’s new comic book adaptation thriller Term Life is now shooting. Shea Whigham is the latest cast recruit, signing on to star alongside Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld{ =nofollow}.

The plot follows Nick Barrow (Vaughn), who plans heists and comes up with tricks for career criminals. Unfortunately for him, he’s managed to annoy just about everyone, especially when one of the most recent crimes he helped plan goes bad. With mob bosses, corrupt cops and hit men on his trail, Nick decides he wants to finally do something good and takes out a big life insurance policy out on himself, payable to his estranged daughter (Steinfeld). There’s just one small hitch: it takes 21 days to take effect, and he’ll be lucky to live 21 hours…

Whigham, last seen in** American Hustle** (and The Wolf Of Wall Street) and found as a conflicted, often-corrupt police boss on Boardwalk Empire, is slipping back into law enforcement to play a vice detective who has become estranged from his family. He joins a cast that also includes Breaking Bad’s Jonathan Banks, Bill Paxton, Mike Epps and William Levy, Jordi Molla.

With a script by A.J. Lieberman adapting the comic book he created with Nick Thornborrow, Vaughn’s regular collaborator Peter Billingsley is calling the shots now.
