Sean Bean Off To Scorched Earth

It’s long been a running gag that Sean Bean tends to end up dead in films. At this point, he’s essentially the live action equivalent of Kenny from South Park. We don’t think he’s doing himself any favours by signing up to post-apocalyptic action pic** Scorched Earth**, but at least he will be starring in it, which ups his survival chances considerably.

Bobby Mort and Kevin Leeson have penned the screenplay, which finds Earth a ravaged wasteland after a massive environmental disaster does a number on both the world and the population, with billions left dead. Bean is on to play Atticus Gage, a bounty hunter hired to track down the world’s most wanted criminal for a hefty fee.

Brad Turner, who has worked as a director on shows such as Prison Break, 24, and Homeland, is making his first big screen effort since 1987’s Goofballs. There’s no word on when he’ll start shooting yet.

Bean will next be seen in** Silent Hill: Revelation 3D** (due October 31) and Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters, which is set to arrive here on August 14, 2013.
