Sam Fell, the British director of The Tale Of Despereaux and co-director of the wonderful and underrated Aardman flick, Flushed Away, is heading into the realm of live-action with his next movie, Demonkeeper.

The Fox 2000 movie will be based on the children’s book by Royce Buckingham, about a young man who inherits a house crammed with demons. When kids break into the house one night, they accidentally unleash the most dangerous demon, The Beast, Killer Of Lost Children, and the chase is on.

To be honest, we haven’t read the book in question, but we’re pretty much sold on that premise alone. Laeta Kalogridis is writing the script – and, given that she wrote the screenplays for James Cameron’s in-the-works sci-fi epic, **Battle Angel **and Scorsese’s latest, Shutter Island, we expect great things. Likewise from Fell, who has showed considerable premise in the animated world – let’s hope he can retain and develop those skills when working with pesky humans.
