Iron Man 3

Talking to Empire last issue about Iron Man 3, Rebecca Hall admitted she’d been nervous dipping her toe in the waters of Hollywood’s big-budget sci-fi lake. It appears she’s gotten used to the temperature and is ready to dive in to Wally Pfister’s directorial debut Transcendence.

Of course, having Christopher Nolan’s cinematographer directing (with Nolan producing) and getting to act alongside Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany probably helped matters. And she’s worked with Pfister before, since she was part of The Prestige’s cast.

Much like that film in its early days, Transcendence is a mystery for now, though artificial intelligence is rumoured to be a part of the plot and comparisons have been made with 2001 and Inception.

Depp is apparently playing a scientist who creates a computer program that ends up developing awareness (yeah, that’s going to end well) and Hall will be his wife, a fellow academic.

Pfister will start shooting the film next month in Los Angeles. Hall has technically worked with Bettany in Iron Man 3 (though he doesn’t need to be on set to voice Tony Stark’s dry-witted computer system Jarvis) and the film will land on April 26.
