As we draw steadily nearer to the end of 2013, with awards season in full swing, many critics are slowly putting together their best of the year lists. Quentin Tarantino, however, has decided to get the jump on everyone else and release his list of 10 favourite movies of 2013 so far in alphabetical order. Arriving via The Quentin Tarantino Archives, you can find the films below.

  1. Afternoon Delight (Jill Soloway)
  1. Before Midnight (Richard Linklater)
  1. Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen)
  1. **The Conjuring **(James Wan)
  1. Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg)
  1. Frances Ha (Noah Baumbach)
  1. Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón)
  1. Kick Ass 2 (Jeff Wadlow)
  1. The Lone Ranger (Gore Verbinski)
  1. This Is The End (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg)

There's a surprising number of mainstream titles here, especially The Lone Ranger, which wasn’t shown too much critical love in the US but appears to have a staunch supporter in QT.

Gravity's appearance is of a shock, along with Before Midnight, The Conjuring and Woody Allen’s latest, Blue Jasmine. We’re intrigued by the choice of **Kick-Ass 2 **and This Is The End, however.

Of course, things could change once December has put away its belongings and 2014 is upon us. Do you agree with Tarantino’s choices? Do any of them shock you? Sound off below or on Twitter…
