Potter 6 Gets Director

And it's the man behind Harry 5...

Considering we’re still months away from the release of Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, it may seem rather early to be discussing the sixth instalment of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but this is the 21st Century and news is pretty zippy.

The folks over at Sci-Fi Wire are reporting that Harry 5 helmer David Yates has confirmed he’ll be revisiting the hallowed halls of Hogwarts when he takes on directorial duties on Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. "I am doing Half-Blood Prince, and I'm doing it because I love the world, I love the characters," said the British director: "I think I have more business with this world and these characters."

He then added: "I've made a kind of tonal shift with the fifth film, which I want to continue and develop into the sixth film, and I can see the fifth story evolving into the sixth story in a really interesting way. So I'm on a journey with this material and this world, and I'm keen to complete it."

Harry’s sixth cinematic adventure is set for release on November 21, 2008, with all the usual staff, pupils and creatures due to return to Platform 9¾ for another magical journey to Wizard Central. And if the trailers for Order Of The Phoenix are anything to go by, Yates’ decision to return to the franchise is a very welcome one indeed.
