Despite having to brave some rough critical waters, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opened to a healthy, if hardly record-setting $90.1 million across the pond this weekend. Jack Sparrow and co faced almost no competition at the box office, with the other studios wisely choosing to get out of the way of the Mouse House’s behemoth pirate vessel. But though the bean counters won’t be quite as pleased with the treasure haul this time, the worldwide take has been solid.

Bridesmaids held on very well, dropping just 19.8% and sticking in second place with $21 million. Last week’s champion, Thor, fell from his throne to third place, notching up $15.5 million. **Fast Five **slipped one place to fourth with $10.6 million, while Rio once again rounded off the top five, earning $4.65 million.

In sixth place, Priest continued to sink with $4.6 million and $23.6 million to date. Jumping the Broom was seventh with $3.7 million, still just ahead of Something Borrowed, which went down to eighth and $3.4 million. Water for Elephants was ninth, making $2.1 million, while Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family earned $990,000, preparing to leave the top 10 with a $51.7 million haul so far.
