Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr (she plays Vanessa, don't you know) is set to make a splash as fish food, ahem, star in the remake of the cult 1978 horror **Piranha 3-**D.

According to sources, she will play "Kelly, a hot young townie caught up in the excitement of co-eds who have descended upon the area for spring break". Szohr joins the stellar line up of Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott and Richard Dreyfuss for the film directed by The Hills Have Eye****s' Alexandre Aja.

Szohr is no stranger to schlock horror, having starred in the whosville productions of House At The End Of The Drive with Lance Henriksen and Somebody Help Me about murder in the woods starring a whole host of unknowns.

So it's likely that given past tendencies to camp out at remote log cabins and mess with scary looking neighbours, and the fact that Szohr's character is at the lakeside town for spring break, that she might just venture into the water. But she might just be thick-skinned enough to survive the razor-toothed maneaters now that she's had a couple of seasons fending off the Gossip Girls.

Piranha 3-D is due in cinemas March 2010 and kicks off shooting in Arizona this month.
