Though there was chatter recently about possible release issues for People Like Us, the directorial debut of **Star Trek **/ Transformers co-writer / producer Alex Kurtzman, it would appear that all has been smoothed over and the first trailer for the drama has arrived at Moviefone. Check it out below.

Despite Kurtzman's background in big blockbusters, this script (co-written with regular writing partner Roberto Orci), is firmly in heart-warming morality drama territory. Which is much easier to handle when you’re a first-time director working with a low budget.

Still, he’s used his clout to attract a solid cast that includes Chris Pine, Olivia Wilde, Elizabeth Banks, Mark Duplass, Jon Favreau and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Pine stars as Sam, a swift-talking salesman having a very bad day. Not only has his latest deal gone south, but he also learns his father has just died. Ordered home to put his dad's estate in order, he learns to his surprise that he has a 30-year-old sister (Banks) he knew nothing about. And he’s supposed to deliver $150,000 to her – something he could really use himself. But when he tracks his sister down and discovers her life as a struggling single mother, he’s forced to re-think his life choices.

The trailer falls into a couple of syrupy traps (especially the music cue near the end), but with such a good cast, we’re hoping it proves to be something worth watching.** People Like Us** is out on June 29 in the US, but there’s no solid release date for the UK just yet.
