We recently learned that Alex Garland – writer and producer behind such movies as The Beach, 28 Days Later and recently Dredd – is jumping into the director’s chair for a new sci-fi project, Ex Machina. He’s now starting to track down the cast, with Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson in talks.

The script, written by Garland, finds a billionaire handpicking a young employee to spend a week at his remote estate and take part in testing his latest invention, an artificially intelligent female robot.

According to The Wrap, Isaac is close to a deal to play the billionaire, while Gleeson may play the employee chosen to help test the fem-bot. As for the robo-lady herself, no one is in direct talks yet, though Felicity Jones and Alicia Vikander are apparently potential candidates to have their guts replaced with circuitry and wiring.

Isaac, who was last seen in The Bourne Legacy, has been busy of late with Therese, The Two Faces Of January and the Coens’ latest, **Inside Llewyn Davi****s, **all in the can awaiting release. Gleeson was part of Anna Karenina’s cast (he also appeared in Dredd) and has Frank, About Time and Calvary on the horizon.
