Now Brad Pitt Might Go Like Hell

Back in October, Tom Cruise and his Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski ferretted true-life racing drama Go Like Hell from the slush pile of projects Michael Mann considered and put aside. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise is now looking to recruit Brad Pitt to co-star{ =nofollow}.

Adapted from A.J. Blaine’s tome Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle For Speed And Glory At Le Mans, the eventual film would see Cruise playing car designer Carroll Shelby, involved in the rivalry between the two legendary companies as both strove to push for higher performance. The great advantage of testing their innovations at Le Mans at the time was a near total lack of safety precautions, making this quite literally a race to the death. Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are the people currently charged with making the script work.

This isn’t the first time Pitt has been involved with the project, either: he was actually attached in 2009 when Mann was more seriously considering the film. There’s no mention of which role he could take this time. If it all works out, Go Like Hell would mark the first time that Pitt and Cruise shared the screen since 1994’s Interview With The Vampire. There might be wigs in this one too, but probably fewer fangs. Then again, as the rivalry heats up, who knows what blood will be sucked?
