If you've had eyes in your head over the past couple of years, it can't have escaped your attention that Nicholas Hoult, the little kid from About A Boy, is all grown up. Now 6'3", the 21 year-old has impressed enough with turns in Clash Of The Titans and A Single Man to bag gigs in the likes of George Miller's **Fury Road **and Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class.

In fact, we saw him in action today for the first time in his role as Hank McCoy/Beast in the superhero prequel, and clearly his time as an X-Man caught the eye of producer, Bryan Singer. For today Hoult ended Singer's long search for a Giant Killer.

Not in a Crawley kind of way, but in a Jack the Giant Killer way. Singer has been searching for a young actor to star in his long-prepping fantasy epic for some time now, and Hoult seems to have eclipsed the competition. He's in negotiations to take on the role of a young farmer who leads a party into the land of the giants in order to rescue a princess.

So, in case you couldn't tell, it's the Jack And The Beanstalk fairytale, but with a typically modern twist. Singer will direct from a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie, Mark Bomback and Darren Lemke, with shooting set to begin later this year.
