South Korea. A military transport plane touches down and a weary Brad Pitt is shuffled into the relative safety of a hangar. He’s asked by the worried, uniformed troops there about how their various hometowns are doing. “Guys, I’ll be honest with you,” he says. “I don’t know of any place back home that’s doing very well…” Yes, the test screenings for **World War Z **were a right old nightm… Sorry, no, we’re being told this is the new clip from the film. Which would also explain the grim tone.

Still, the buzz on this one has been turning around since it screened in full and the reviews have not been the bile dump many were expecting given the tough production history.

Adapted very, very loosely from Max Brooks’ stonking book, World War Z finds Pitt as Gerry Lane, a UN trouble-shooter pressed into action when a mysterious viral outbreak starts causing waves of zombies to swarm across the world. While he really just wants to keep his wife (Mireille Enos) and kids safe, humanity at large needs his assistance. So he heads out on a globetrotting mission to get to the bottom of it all.

With Marc Forster calling the shots and James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox, David Morse, Peter Capaldi, Elyes Gabel and Moritz Bleibtreu among the cast, World War Z invades our cinemas on June 21. One week and counting, folks…
