Ahead of the release of The Wolverine, there's a new featurette explaining the film's storyline and take on the character, with special reference to his resemblance to a Japanese ronin, or masterless samurai. Take a look below for a hint of what we can expect from the movie.

brightcove.createExperiences();This story, set after the events of **X-Men: The Last **Stand, sees Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) "more isolated than you've ever seen" following the death (by Wolverine) of Jean Grey. An old friend, Yashida (Hal Yamanouchi) sends an envoy to find him, and offers Wolverine an end to his healing factor and endless life. But there are more dangers in Japan than his own existential angst, so things are never going to be easy for the metal-boned mutant.

The Wolverine also stars Will Yun Lee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, Svetlana Khodchenkova and Hiroyuki Sanada, with James Mangold directing. It hits cinemas on July 26.
