Ron Burgundy is back, back, back. A few months back Adam McKay told Empire that he had enough surplus jokes to entirely re-gag Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and, sure enough, that’s exactly what he’s done. The movie is popping back into UK and US cinemas to pay a hobo to spoon with it from February 28.

Featuring 763 new jokes and the same 24-hour-news pranks and predicaments, Ron, Brick, Doby and co will be strutting their stuff for one week only. Move fast or miss out.

Says McKay, “When my editor told me we had a whole different version of the movie that was more than two hours long with nearly 800 new jokes, I was shocked. But when Paramount said they were actually going to put it in theatres, I did a 1950’s spit take. If you're a hardcore Anchorman fan, go see this. If you're not, stay very far away.”

The idea of re-releasing the film has been bubbling about in its director’s comedy mind palace for some time. “We did so much improv on this one that we can literally replace every single joke in the movie and put in alt scenes and alt improv runs,” he told Empire. "I think it would be really funny to put it in theatres for midnight showings. I know that I personally, if I loved a movie and someone told me that, like if Airplane! had been released with all-new jokes, I'd be like, 'you've got to be fucking kidding me!' I’d see it in a second.”

Anchor-fans form an orderly queue from next Friday.
