The trailers for Insidious director James Wan’s new horror pic The Conjuring are flying at us thick and fast like howling malicious spirits now. This latest footage focuses on real-life psychic investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played in the film by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Take a gander below if you’re feeling brave.

Wan’s latest is ripped from the files of the Warrens, a real-life husband and wife spook hunting team who are called into to try to help the Perron family.

Roger (Ron Livingston) and Carolyn (Lili Taylor) Perron buy the farmhouse to share with their daughters. At first it just seems like your ordinary fixer-upper that could use some TLC from willing owners. But then the strange noises and inexplicable disturbances start. Soon the Perrons realise that the place is crammed with spirits, with the worst of the lot being Bathsheba Sherman, the “godforsaken soul” of a witch hanged on the property.

Even Lorraine’s psychic abilities are affected by this evil menace, and the case takes its toll on both the family and the pair trying to help them. We’re also treated to the second – after this week’s D****ark Skies – scene where birds suicidally plunge towards a structure.

At this past weekend’s WonderCon, Wan talked up the movie, explaining that the US ratings board has handed the film an R instead of a PG-13, simply because it was “too scary”. We’ll be the judge of that! And so can you when The Conjuring opens on July 19. Check out another trailer below.
