When last we saw Shailene Woodley’s Tris, she had temporarily thwarted the ruling ambitions of Erudite leader Jeanine (Kate Winslet) and was on the run with Dauntless comrade/lover Four (Theo James). Now, in Insurgent, she’s ready to take the fight to the enemy to reclaim civilisation.
While the teaser for the sequel (which goes by the full, slightly cumbersome name of The Divergent Series: Insurgent) featured Woodley’s heroine and her mother (Ashley Judd) in what looked like a dream/test sequence, this new promo kicks things up several notches in terms of action, conflict, snogging, running and Miles Teller being a total douche.
Jeanine, it would appear, has laid hands on a strange glowing box that seemingly holds the key to power in the dystopian society so split into factions. But a divergent is apparently needed to open it. Cue a hunt for Tris even as she’s trying to rally forces to fight the Erudite’s grip on power...
With Jai Courtney, Zoe Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Naomi Watts, Ray Stevenson and Octavia Spencer all in the cast, The Divergent Series: Insurgent is set for release here on March 20.
