Neil Burger's new sci-fi **Divergent **will be looking to muscle in on The Hunger Games and Ender's Game's turf early next year, and its marketing campaign is beginning to crank up a gear, starting with a batch of posters introducing the characters. Maggie Q, ink guru Tori in the film, gets the ball rolling with this oddly-lit affair that flaunts her trademark tattoo.

That black and white hawk symbolises a fear of the dark Tori must overcome. (She won't be enjoying this poster much.) A member of the Dauntless faction, she's the go-to tattoo artist and a mentor of sorts to Beatrice “Tris” Prior (Shailene Woodley). Her brother was killed, presumably for being divergent, leaving her nursing a deep-rooted desire for revenge. She's gonna kick some ass, basically.

Adapted from the first in Veronica Roth’s series of novels, Divergent is set in a society where people are divided into social factions based on their personalities. It’s all part of a drive to end years of civil strife and war that has wracked a future America.

Tris, however, is different. She doesn’t belong in any one faction, and her divergent nature means she’s a threat to the orderly running of the civilization.

Things aren’t easy for those who are identified as different - and by different, we mean dangerous. She joins the Dauntless (courageous) faction but there, together with friends and her mysterious, handsome trailer Four (Theo James), Tris must face the perils ahead and figure out the plans of Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet), the stern figurehead she’ll have to defeat.

**Divergent **will hit UK screens on March 21, 2014.
