Ripped from the crime blotter of the Los Angeles Times, **The Bling Ring **finds celebrity-obsessed Rebecca (Katie Chang), Nicki (Emma Watson), Chloe (Claire Julien), Sam (Taissa Farmiga) and others deciding that they want to steal from such pop culture icons as Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, partly so they can feel the rush of crime and partly so they can get their claws on some swanky, expensive gear.
The mini crimewave tore through the luxury communities between 2008 and 2009 until the authorities caught up with the gang, who, based on the evidence of this, seemed more concerned with whether they’d made a connection to their celebrity targets than any actual wrongdoing.
