Morgan Freeman’s warm, gravelly, authoritative voice-over tones have become so well known that he’s the subject of more than one parody. But that hasn't deterred Warner Bros. from slotting him into the cast for Lego: The Piece Of Resistance alongside Elizabeth Banks.

21 Jump Street duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller co-wrote the script with Dan and Kevin Hageman and have been hard at work on the CG 'toon, which features Chris Pratt as the voice of a regular Lego mini-figure who is mistaken for the fabled, powerful MasterBuilder, and who must help stop a tyrant from gluing the universe together.

Will Arnett is also aboard, playing a Lego Batman in the movie. Banks’ role is being kept secret for now, but Deadline dug up that Freeman’s character will be called Vitruvius, who in historical terms was a Roman warrior. Could he be the bad guy? We’ll have to wait and see.

Lord and Miller talked up the project’s scope to Empire back in June, and it certainly sounds like it could be good fun. The film is scheduled to arrive in the US on February 28, 2014, but there’s no set date for the UK just yet.
