Despite less favourable reviews than the original, Monsters, Inc. prequel Monsters University won favour from audiences this weekend across the pond, storming ahead of World War Z to earn an impressive $82 million at the box office, according to studio estimates.

Fast & Furious 6 slipped to sixth place, earning $4.7 million, while The Internship fell one place to seventh and $3.42 million. The Purge was eighth, scoring $3.41 million, with Star Trek Into Darkness at ninth and $3 million. Finally, we find Iron Man 3 showing real staying power, clinging on at 10th for $2.1 million and crashing through $400 million in the States alone.
