Michael Cera On For Magic, Magic

A drama for Scott Pilgrim...

Michael Cera has been somewhat quiet since Scott Pilgrim vs. the World arrived last year: he has a small part in Pilgrim co-star Mark Webber’s untitled film, but hasn’t really jumped into anything else. Now he’s finally getting set for a new film, signing on to indie drama Magic, Magic.

While he’s usually been found in comedies such as Juno, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlis**t and Superbad, Magic** sounds like it’ll be a career gear change for him, focusing as it does on a young woman who goes on holiday with friends to a remote chunk of Chile and starts to slowly lose her mental faculties. Though she tries hard to get through to her friends about her situation, they ignore her until it’s far too late.

Chilean writer/director Sebastian Silva is on scripting and shot-calling duties and Mike White will produce the film. There’s no set start date yet, since the team is still looking for the most vital element, an actress to play the lead role.
