Busy pushing his latest Transformers offering through the grinder that is post-production, Michael Bay could be forgiving for taking a few years off, or switching things up again à la Pain & Gain. But he just can’t keep away from big films, and is developing a new, untitled adventure with his Platinum Dunes team{ =nofollow}.

**Puss In Boots **writer Tom Wheeler and Supernatural staff scribbler Robbie Thompson are the duo assigned to work on the script for the new film, which The Hollywood Reporter has discovered will feature a basis in real science and an undersea component. At this early stage, Bay is attached more as a producer alongside Dunes colleagues Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, but he may well decide to direct it if he likes the script. Or if he sees chances for lots of things to blow up.

When not marshalling the compu-troops at ILM to bring Optimus Prime and co to life for Age Of Extinction (out here on July 10), Bay is also producing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle****s film (arriving October 17) and various other projects including Welcome To Yesterday, Ouija and a potential Bad Boys 3.
