Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, you’re on notice: two experienced scene-stealers have been added to the cast of Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day in the shape of Megan Mullally and Jennifer Coolidge{
The film, which Miguel Arteta is busy directing in LA, follows the comic misadventures of poor Alexander (Ed Oxenbould, a newcomer selected after a big casting sweep), who wakes up one morning with gum stuck in his hair – and the day goes downhill from there. Carell and Garner are playing his parents, but the Hollywood Reporter’s story doesn’t mention who Coolidge and Mullally will play.
Rob Lieber adapted the script from Judith Viorst’s 1972 children’s book, which means this comes with a built-in audience of moviegoers Stateside who remember it fondly and are ready to judge the cinematic version with laser-like intensity. No pressure, there…
Mullally is currently on screens now in indie pic The Kings Of Summer. She’ll also be seen in Trouble Dolls and (assuming it works out, which we fervently hope it does), the developing Party Down film. Coolidge was last seen reprising Stifler’s Mom in American Reunion and is part of the Austenland cast, with the rom-com due here on September 27.
