It’s good to be able to report that Cameron Crowe is at last pushing ahead on his next film. He’s already got Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone lined up for the mysterious, still-untitled romantic comedy drama, and Rachel McAdams is now in talks.

Sony and producer Scott Rudin are backing the new movie, which is still under Chris Nolan/J.J. Abrams-level secrecy protection. Earlier rumours had the writer/director dusting off his abortive Hawaii-set romance Deep Tiki, but there has been no confirmation as to whether this incorporates elements of that or if this is a completely new screenplay. Either way, we just want to see it.

Cooper and Stone seem set to be the central couple, with McAdams considering playing Cooper’s former lover - hmm, shades of her recent turn in **To The Wonder **there. If she’s in advanced talks, she may already be on the receiving end of Crowe’s famous mix tapes highlighting musical moods he intends to employ in the movie.

All being well, filming should kick off in October, which means 2014 holds the prospect of a new Cameron Crowe romance. McAdams, who was last seen in Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder, will be on screen in Richard Curtis’ About Time (due September 6) and Anton Corbijn’s A Most Wanted Man, which has yet to lock in a release date.
