Mark Ruffalo Dismisses Hulk Film Rumours

The internet is awash with rumours. Rumours and secrets and lies and, as Joss Whedon puts it, "nonsense". Nonsense about a Hulk spin-off movie starring Mark Ruffalo and nonsense about a Planet Hulk storyline for the Avengers sequel - and now both Whedon and Ruffalo have put the hammer down on all this hulking twaddle.

In his Twitter guise as @Mruff221- and not, say, @TheRealBruceBanner - The Gruffalo (as no-one calls him) said: "A lot of folks have been asking about the next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in the Avengers 2. No plans for stand alone movie."

But don't remove all hope of a Hulk standalone movie, because his Hulkiness followed that up with this doozie: "I am not giving up on another stand alone Hulk, but it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring."

As for the Planet Hulk/World War Hulk-based wishful thinking - in terms of the storylines possibly being the basis of Avengers 2 - Whedon said in a recent interview with IGN that all that was a load of hooey (in a manner of speaking): “Well, I’m really not supposed to comment, but no, that’s nonsense."

It's never fun to torpedo all this smiley-faced what-iffery, but there you have it: there'll be no Hulky smashing in a solo outing any time soon, and Planet Hulk won't be seen on screens. If you'd like to find out more about what exactly Planet Hulk is - if only for curiousity's sake - hop over to the Marvel Universe Wiki this way.
