While he's got his own next projects to think about, Spike Lee is also helping other movies get made. He's an executive producer on civil rights drama Son Of The South, which will star Lucy Hale and Lucas Till.

Barry Alexander Brown, who has worked as an editor for Lee's movies for a long time, is stepping up to direct. He adapted the script from Bob Zellner's autobiography, The Wrong Side Of Murder Creek: A White Southerner In The Freedom Movement. It charts how Zellner, the grandson of a Ku Klux Klan member, was drawn into the rights movement.

Till is on to play Zellner, while Hale will be Carol Ann, his college girlfriend. Also in the cast are Lex Scott Davis, Julia Ormond, Cedric the Entertainer, Sharonne Lanier, Brian Dennehy and Chaka Forman, who is playing his own father, activist Jim Forman.

The cameras are rolling on the film in Montgomery, Alabama, but there's no word on a release date for the film yet.
