No, someone has not decided to try to remake the somewhat blighted Edgar Allan Poe thriller that limped on to screens last year. In this case, The Raven is Ricardo de Montreuil’s impressive short film, which was bought up by Universal back in 2010 as a possible Mark Wahlberg vehicle. Now, though, it appears Liam Hemsworth is the likely lead.

According to Deadline, it’s not official yet, but the Hunger Games Hemsworth appears close to nabbing the role, which will see him in another dystopian future.

The impressive sci-fi conspiracy thriller short, which you can see at the bottom of the page, featured a young man named Chris Black, who possesses a power capable of bringing down the regime in a futuristic alt-America. He ends up being chased through the streets of Los Angeles by autonomous robo-drones and a big police ship coordinating the effort.

Now Michael Gilio and Justin Marks have adapted it into a feature-length film, which, if it keeps up the spirit of the original, will likely be something in the vein of Minority Report. Wahlberg is still involved as a producer, and may yet take a role, but there’s no word on when it’ll start shooting.
