Since Paul Feig and co-writer Katie Dippold stepped aboard the long-gestating Ghostbusters reboot, the pace has picked up quicker than a speeding Ecto-1. There were rumours that Melissa McCarthy would be part of the cast and now Feig has sourced performers from Bridesmaids and Saturday Night Live to start building his ensemble, with McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones now in advanced talks to star{ =nofollow}.

McCarthy and Wiig, as mentioned, have a history with Feig thanks Bridesmaids, with McCarthy also starring in **The Heat **and his upcoming espionage caper Spy. McKinnon has been a featured player on Saturday Night since 2012 and scored an Emmy nomination for her work last year. Jones joined the show last year and was quickly promoted to featured player status. She’s also part of the cast for Chris Rock’s latest film, Top Five, which arrives in the UK on March 13. Now... depending on where they're going with the story (and currently, it's looking like a completely new plot and characters), maybe Paul Rudd will jump aboard as 'Dan' Barrett?

Feig and Heat writer Dippold have been busy working on the script for the new take on Ghostbusters, which features an all-female team, and is looking to have the cameras cranking this summer in New York. We talked to him about his plans for the film, which may or may not see cameos from surviving ‘busters Dan Aykroyd (himself long a champion of a third film or reboot and writer of several script attempts) and Ernie Hudson. We have doubts Bill Murray will show up, but perhaps they just need to throw a karaoke night and have him crash it... According to Feig, Ghostbusters will hit screens on July 22, 2016.
