It sounds like movie via Mad Libs... Kevin Hart is making... A Monopoly movie... with Tim Story. But it's also reality, as Hart and Story are now attached to the latest incarnation of this long-developing game adaptation.

Exactly what shape this new take will have remains to be seen – Lionsgate and Hasbro are still putting the pieces together, and there's no writer attached (or at least announced) yet.

But while it seems an unlikely concept, a movie based on the game has been in the works in some form or other for years, with the likes of Andrew Niccol and even Ridley Scott attached in the past, with ideas including a young man from the game looking to make it rich and another with a character falling down into a version of the Monopoly world, which sounds a little too close to Hart's work on Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle.

This one will bubble away in develop for a while as the other elements are gathered, but Hart is probably happy for something else to focus on besides his being ditched from the Oscars hosting hob. And you can see the appeal of working with Story, who directed him on the Ride Along films.

Hart is on UK screens right now with The Upside.
