Josh Hartnett has been cast in the lead role in Bunraku. He'll play a nameless, vengeful drifter in an alternate universe. The film is described as a "spaghetti-Western-samurai-gangster mashup".

According to Variety's report, inspirations for the film, which will be directed by Guy Moshe, range from Japanese puppet theatre to German expressionism to video games.

That sound pretty interesting. That's a lot of stuff to keep under control, but done right this sounds like it could be special. Hartnett's got the silent, brooding temparement to play a pissed off stranger and if he bulks up a bit, yeah, we'd believe he could kill us.
