No, it's not an episode of MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch. It's news from the mysterious industry insider The Hollywood Cog that Joel Schumacher has his eye on love-colossus Barry White for his next opus.

Schumacher, whose most recent movie Twelve has yet to reach seven figures at the box office (although its release was limited and its budget low to start with) is planning something rather different than a White biopic though. The Barry White Story comes from a pitch by the Hollywood Gang production company (300, Immortals) and involves the ghost of White coaching a high-school loser in the ways of luuuurve.

Pajiba suggest She's Out of My League as a touchstone. We'd like to point Schumacher in the direction of Ken Loach's Looking For Eric, although Schumacher has the disadvantage of White no longer being alive to play himself.

Just an idea at the moment, with no writers yet attached. Maybe it'll come to nothing. But it it were to happen, who could play White?
