While many people are trying hard to avoid spoilers about Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the sprawling, multi-film nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe means it’s tough to completely detach. And given his multi-film contract, it was unlikely that Jeremy Renner would, to put it poetically, be buying the farm as Hawkeye (even if it appears the character owns one) in the new outing. Still, word has arrived that he’ll appear in.**

The third Cap film is becoming increasingly crowded with superhero characters, loaded down as it is with Chris Evans’ titular conflicted do-gooder, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, AKA Winter Soldier. And let’s not forget, thanks to the recent deal between Sony and Marvel, that Spider-Man will be making an appearance. But with Joss Whedon promising that Hawkeye has more to do in the second Avengers film, perhaps that is being carried over into Civil War.

With **The Winter Soldier **directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo back behind the camera, Civil War will arrive in the UK on April 29 next year before heading to the US for May 6. Age Of Ultron is out here on April 23 this year.

In other Renner news, he’s also signed on to co-star with Amy Adams in Story Of Your Life. Denis Villeneuve is directing the tale of an expert linguist (Adams) recruited when an alien species lands their vessels around the world and humanity must try to communicate with the new arrivals. Adams’ expert starts experiencing vivid flashbacks that help her understand the aliens and discover the secret behind their arrival. Renner is aboard as a physics professor paired with her to help with the task.

Eric Heisserer adapted the script from Ted Chiang’s short story, with Villeneuve set to kick off shooting in June. In addition to Ultron, Renner will be back for more Mission: Impossible action, with the fifth instalment landing on July 31.
