He was everyone’s favourite ill-fated Dothraki in Game Of Thrones and is will assume the superheroic mantle of Aquaman next year, but Jason Momoa is also off to the wilds of 18th century North America, starring in Netflix’s new Western drama Frontier.

San Andreas director Brad Peyton is involved with the series, which comes from Discovery Canada and chronicles the struggle for wealth, power and survival in the tough fur trade during the period. Featuring multiple perspectives, the series shines a light on a place and a time when business deals might be resolved with hatchet fights (so, not too different from decisions over who last made the tea in the Empire office, then), and the relations between European colonisers and Native Americans are a powder keg of bloody conflict.

Momoa, who will first be seen as Aquaman in next March’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, leads a cast that also includes Alun Armstrong, Landon Liboiron, Zoe Boyle, Allan Hawco and Jessica Matten. We can expect to see the series on Netflix next year, so get your log cabin ready now for that authentic experience.
