The Hunger Games Catching Fire World Premiere

The capital becomes The Capitol for a night

Jennifer Lawrence and company were in town last night for the premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and judging by the crowds filling Leicester Square the odds were definitely in their favour for a good opening weekend.

This film sees Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen sent out on a "Victor's Tour" after the previous year's Hunger Games. But as she tours the Districts ruled by the all-powerful Capitol, it becomes clear that rebellion is in the air, and she's put under pressure from the sinister President Snow (Donald Sutherland) to quell any urge to fuel the fires. As another Games approaches and Katniss' status as a figurehead grows, the President cooks up a way to put her back into the arena for another fight to the death.

Joining Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci this time are Sam Claflin, Jenna Malone and Jeffrey Wright as other former Victors at the Games, and a new director in Francis Lawrence.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits cinemas on November 21, and you can read Em**pire**'s review here.
