They said it couldn't be done. They said that The Human Centipede II: Full Sequence had "a strong focus throughout on the link between sexual arousal and sexual violence and a clear association between pain, perversity and sexual pleasure," such that there was a real risk that it would be classified as obscene and could not be passed by mere cuts. Now, however, the film's received an 18-rating from the BBFC following, er, mere cuts.

Ian Sadler, Eureka's sales director, said, "We are really pleased that after nearly 4 months of detailed discussion and debate, we have been able to reach an agreement with the BBFC and to produce a very viable cut of the film which will both excite and challenge its fans. Naturally we have a slight disappointment that we have had to make cuts, but we feel that the storyline

has not been compromised and the level of horror has been sustained.”

Apparently the 32 cuts amount to about 2 minutes, 37 seconds in total, but clearly an agreement has been reached and the BBFC no longer thinks that the film risks falling under the Obscene Publications Act. That said - will you be queuing to see it?
