He’s not one to rest on his laurels, is that Hugh Jackman. Most people would greet the news that their new movie – in this case, X-Men Origins: Wolverine – had just opened the summer season with an excellent bow of $87 million by immediately buggering off to the Bahamas for a month. At least. (Not St. Lucia – Winehouse may still be running amok…)
Jackman, though, is taking the advice of Dave Grohl – done, done and on to the next one – by signing on to star and produce the high-concept supernatural adventure, Ghostopolis, for Disney.
Based on a graphic novel, as 87.5% of new projects in Hollywood seem to be these days, Ghostopolis will see Jackman play a member of the Government’s Spiritual Immigration Task Force, a group that polices the traffic between our world and the eerie realm of Ghostopolis.
When a living child accidentally crosses over, Jackman must team up with a former flame – who now happens to be quite, quite dead – to cross over and bring him back.
Sounds like it could be fun – a mixture of** Monsters, Inc.** and Ghostbusters, with a hint of social Crash-style comment thrown in for good measure. We hear that Ryan Reynolds might be in this one for a whole four minutes.*
No director or writer is yet attached to the project, which was set up at Disney by the graphic novel’s creator, Doug TenNapel. But we’re sure it’s only a matter of time – for after all, Jackman is hot hot hot right now, and this would provide an interesting counterpoint to all that mutant stuff.
