Hilary Swank Says No to Fangland
Exclusive: Involvement just a 'rumour'
We spoke to Hilary Swank, star of the upcoming Conviction, at the film's London Film Festival premiere last night, and took the opportunity to quiz her about her much-mooted involvement with John Carpenter's Fangland.
"I guess that's why they call it a rumour, huh?" she told us, confirming that she has nothing to do with the project, a post 9/11 reworking of Bram Stoker's Dracula. She said nothing more on the subject, but there you have it - Carpenter would appear to have lost his female lead. If, indeed, he ever had one in the first place.
Mind you, Swank's denial seems strange, given that she's apparently been attached to the project since June. Does her non-involvement mean that Carpenter's latest comeback, with his new film The Ward getting less than stellar notices at Sitges, is already in jeopardy? Watch this space.
