Harrison Ford, Crossing Over

As is by now traditional, Sylvester Stallone has gone for the most direct – if not the most diplomatic – channel to announce a change in casting for the third Expendables film. According to his Twitter feed, Bruce Willis will not be part of the movie – but Harrison Ford, in a surprising coup, is aboard instead.

WILLIS OUT... HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!! > > — Sylvester Stallone (@TheSlyStallone) [August 6, 2013](https://twitter.com/TheSlyStallone/statuses/364831174075486208)

Yes, he might be 71 years old, but Ford has been willing to revisit his old franchises in the past, so teaming up with Sly and a bunch of other icons for an action knock-about seems feasible.

For those keeping score at home, the new Expendables includes Stallone alongside Mickey Rourke, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovovich, Kellan Lutz and the still-unconfirmed Jackie Chan and Mel Gibson. That’s on top of likely returning faces Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture. Plus, assuming he has the time to spare from his own nostalgia tour, Arnold Schwarzenegger might show up.

**Red Hill **director Patrick Hughes will be in charge of handing out the rocket launchers and fish oil tablets, while Stallone is writing the script with Richard Wenk. It’ll kick off shooting shortly and is aiming at an August 2014 release date.

Ford recently told the Telegraph that he thinks Indiana Jones could return, and he will be back on our screens in Ender’s Game, which arrives on October 25. As for Willis, we hope the legendarily grumpy interviewee realises he's set himself up for a thousand questions about the issue by dropping out.

The whole thing raises two questions for us. First, who wants to be the one to tell Stallone about Terry Pratchett's theory on the use of multiple exclamation marks? Secondly, when tackling the tricky job of scheduling all the stars' filming days, do you think that Harrison will shoot first?
