Welcome to the Black Mesa Research Facility…

One of the best selling computer games of all time, Half Life has been around for a number of years yet still drags gamers back to their computers in the wee hours, such is its enduring appeal. Well, the game's movie rights are currently doing the rounds in Hollywood so it may not be too long before we see Gordon Freeman's triumphant return on the big screen. The surprisingly gripping plot sees scientist and general uber-nerd Freeman starting his job at the top secret Black Mesa research facility. As far as first days go however, this one's not ideal as Freeman's first experiment sees a dimensional rift torn through the fabric of our reality and lots of weirdy alien beings unleashed inside the base. Not exactly hero material, Freeman has to step up and face the music - a task made more difficult when the military clean-up squad turns out to be more interested in containment than rescue. It could be terrible but for those who played the game, there might be a certain appeal - especially if they keep the variety of gruesome deaths suffered by the various scientists throughout the game.
