Despite apparent commitments from Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis and posters plastered up across the Cannes Film Festival back in 2010, the adaptation of videogame action thriller Kane & Lynch got lost in development. We wondered if we’d seen the last of it, but it’s come surging back with Gerard Butler in talks to play Kane for his Law Abiding Citizen director F. Gary Gray{ =nofollow}.

Gray’s been attached for at least a couple of years now, but things have been moving slowly for the film as it waxed and waned. The production company combo Millennium / Nu Image, however, are now confident it can be brought back from limbo, and have Vin Diesel pondering an offer to co-star, though he has yet to even enter talks.

If they do both make deals, Butler and Diesel would play tough death row inmates who are sprung from prison to hunt down a stolen fortune. Skip Woods and Kyle Ward have written the latest iteration of the script, but we’ll have to wait and see whether it actually gets moving this time.

Butler, last seen in Olympus Has Fallen, is attached to that film’s sequel, London Has Fallen. He’s also about to start work on Alex Proyas’ Gods Of Egypt.
